My personal name is Meisie Madzivhandila; stage name, Mercy Masakona

Madzivhandila. An African female gospel Artist by profession who live at Lwamondo,

(Vhembe District). I started singing at the age of 8 in a Sunday school as a chorus

leader. That’s where I realized that I have a potential of contributing to the


I joined ICC Music Ministry under the leadership of (Dr, Apostle) evangelist M.A

Masakona in the 1980’s. The group released two albums where I was given a

chance to lead some of the songs, “Born Again” and “Jehovah Jaira”. I was then

requested to give a helping hand to the Devine Life Ministries band lead by Dr

Muligwe as a co-founder.

In 1998 I decided to start being a soloist, I released my first album “Yeso WaVhuthu”,

the second album “Haho ”which was released in 2001 and the third one which is

“Haho” 2 which was released in 2006 and between these years I was the best

female cassettes and CDs seller around Vhembe. During that period I have won the

second prize in 2006 on V.D.A.A (Vhembe District of Arts and Culture) on which the

first prize won by Worship House.

I have assisted many famous groups around and outside Vhembe District on live

performances and studio recordings. For instance, Naledzani Netshirembe,

Malondolo, Itani Madima, Roxely Fhatuwani Masevhe, Rapson Mbilu Rambuwani,

Kanakana “COOK” Sandani, Lufuno Dagada, Lucky M, Alive in Christ, Ualee, Steve

Tshirundu, Alchadai, and SAPS Provincial Police Choir.

I have accomplished a Certificate of Music in 2007 and also obtained Bachelor of

Arts in Music (BMUS) in 2012 and Masters of Arts in African Studies in 2013. I have

mentored youths to have the basics of music in a form private lessons. I am

conducting local church choirs. I have recorded my fourth album which was released

in 2013. My hottest fifth project “Ha Shanduki” was then released 2015.
